Join the Abilene Preservation League as we bring history to life at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery Saturday, April 29th, 2023, from 4-6pm. Attendees will receive a tour brochure with a map to find the burial sites of 10 featured Abilenians who contributed to our city's birth and growth. Upon finding the sites, attendees will meet actors portraying the iconic Abilenians including the likes of David S. Castle, Col. Morgan Jones, Chief J.J. Clinton, C.W. Merchant, Dr. W.H. Butler, Nellie Parramore, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Scarborough, Col. Asa Holt, and Luis Santibanez. These actors will give you an intimate look at our city's history by sharing photographs and telling stories from their portrayed Abilenian's life. Please park on Cottonwood Street and wear comfortable walking shoes for this tour. Check-in for the tour will be at the cemetery entrance closest to the corner of Cottonwood and North 8th Streets.
