Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist. Celebrate Earth Day afternoon getting to know the lichens which are all around us in cities, suburbs, and forests, but we hardly notice them. This workshop will cover their diversity, importance in history and to animals, and their role as indicators of air pollution. Hands-on identification of the three major groups and some common lichens will precede a trail walk. This is a perfect workshop for anyone who loves the outdoors. COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund.
