COVID-19 PRECAUTIONARY GUIDELINES: Registration: Volunteers & race personnel will wear masks and gloves at all times. Hand sanitizer and gloves will be available for volunteers and participants. In-person race registration will have multiple registration areas so distancing can be maintained. Bathrooms/Porta potties: Hand sanitizing & porta potties stations available. Start line protocol: We will use a starting mat and incorporate socially-distanced starts for all participants. Water stations: Extra tables will be used to spread out the area. Volunteers will wear gloves and masks at all times, including while initially filling cups and picking them up. Cups will be spread out to avoid touching. Volunteers will NOT hand cups to participants. Finish area protocol: Volunteers will wear masks and gloves in the finish area at all times. Participants and supporters will not be allowed to congregate in the area. Medals will be lying on the table for participants to pick up once they cross the finish line. This area will be monitored by race personnel and volunteers. Post-race food protocol: We will encourage participants to pick up their snacks, re-mask, and disperse as soon as possible. Announcements will be made periodically during all events to remind all attendees to practice social distancing. Masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced, as we will to ensure the safety of everyone involved. BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK Race Waiver, Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement ALL PARTICIPANTS IN BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK AND RELATED EVENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ASSUME ALL RISK OF PARTICIPATION IN BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK RACE BY REVIEWING AND CONSENTING TO THIS GENERAL RELEASE AGREEMENT AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY ("Release"). The undersigned participant/athlete ("Participant/Athlete") on behalf of himself/herself and on behalf of Participant/Athlete's personal representatives, assigns, heirs, executors and administrators hereby fully and forever releases, waives, discharges and covenants and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless and not to sue the City of Memphis, the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and all public or private agencies whose property and/or personnel are used, any and all other sponsoring or co-sponsoring companies or individuals, and all individual organizers or volunteers related to or involved in the event (collectively "Releases") from all liability of any kind to the Participant/Athlete and his/her personal representatives, assigns, heirs and executors, for all loss(es) or damages(s) and any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury to the Participant/Athlete or property or resulting in the death of the Participant/Athlete while participating in the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK whether caused by the active or passive negligence of all or any of the Releases or otherwise, in connection with the Participant/Athlete’s participation in the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete acknowledges and agrees that the organizers of the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK, in their sole discretion, may delay or cancel BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK or related events for any reason. There shall be no refund, transfer, or deferment of the entry fee or any other costs of Participant/Athlete in connection with BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete represents and warrants that he/she is in good physical condition and is able to safely participate in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete is fully aware of the risks and hazards inherent in participating in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK and elects to voluntarily compete in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK, knowing the risks associated with the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete hereby assumes all risks of loss, damage, injury or death that may be sustained by him/her while participating in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete hereby grants to BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK and its agents, affiliates and designees’ access to all medical records and physicians as needed and authorizes medical treatment as needed. The Participant/Athlete warrants that all statements made herein are true and correct and understands that Releases have relied on the statements provided herein in permitting Participant/Athlete to participate in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. The Participant/Athlete agrees to the use of his/her name, photo and/or video during the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK event. The Participant/Athlete understands that he/she is consenting to use of said photos and videos in printed materials, broadcasts, social media, videos, and presentations without compensation. The Participant/Athlete acknowledges that the entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. It is imperative that the registration data associated belongs to the Participant/Athlete. IF THE PARTICIPANT/ATHLETE IS UNDER AGE 18: I, the undersigned parent/guardian agrees that my son/daughter has my permission to participate in BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK; that the parent/guardian has read the foregoing Release and by signing below intentionally and voluntarily agrees to its terms and conditions. The parent/guardian further represents that my son/daughter is in good physical condition and is able to safely participate in the BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK. I, the undersigned parent/guardian, hereby authorize and permit medical treatment for him/her and grant access to my child's medical records as necessary. Age Requirements * 5K--no minimum age required; all Participants/Athletes under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult. PARTICIPANT/ATHLETE OR PARENT/GUARDIAN OF MINOR ATHLETE UNDER AGE 18 HAS READ THE FOREGOING AND INTENTIONALLY AND VOLUNTARILY ACCEPTS THIS RELEASE. I understand the intent of this Release, and I, for myself, my heirs executors and administrators, hereby agree to release Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the sponsors and any other parties concerned with this event in any way, singularly or collectively, from and against any and all claims relating to my participation in the race, or any activities associated herewith. I certify that all statements made in this waiver are correct and that I fully understand the requirements in order to participate BEST OF ME 5K FUN RUN/WALK.
