Description

You are invited to Alabama A&M University’s Social Work Department’s Child Welfare simulation lab “Dora’s House “OPEN HOUSE” “Dora’s House” Child Welfare Simulation Lab, funded by the Title IV-E Grant, was developed in October 2018. This first-of-its-kind lab allows students to develop and practice their social work skills on a one-on-one basis or in group settings. Training includes conducting child abuse and neglect home investigations, opioid and substance abuse assessments, and planning interventions with families. Dora’s House is the product of an alumna of Alabama A&M University’s Graduate Social Work Program, Ms. Dora Cook. As a result of a classroom assignment, Dora envisioned a “house” where students could practice real-life situations. It was from this classroom assignment that the idea of “Dora’s House” originated. To date, Ms. Dora Cook still holds an active role in the simulation and trainings of Dora’s House. This open house aims to introduce Dora’s House to the community, social service organizations, and other academic programs as an opportunity to facilitate hands-on training, workshops, classroom assignments, as well as other on-the-job training. COME CELEBRATE WITH US!!!!!
