WOBURN, MA — Woburn police warned Monday about a phone scam where scammers claim to be Eversource representatives and ask for gift cards or financial information. Multiple residents have reported the scam, the department said. Scammers tell victims that their electric bills are overdue and demand immediate payment. They ask for credit or debit information, banking information or gift cards. Sometimes the call comes from 617-756-9527, the phone number of Holtzski Electric, the police said, but the company is also a victim. Scammers are spoofing the company's phone number to appear legitimate, the department said. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
