Thornwell will be a host site for the 2023 Hope for the Journey Conference presented by Show Hope for foster and adoptive parents on May 6th on Thornwell's campus. All foster and adoptive parents (from any agency), prospective foster and adoptive parents, Thornwell's staff, and families participating in all Thornwell programs are invited to attend. Certificates of attendance will be offered for those who register and attend.
Show Hope’s Hope for the Journey Conference (formerly the Empowered to Connect Conference) is designed to encourage and equip parents and caregivers meeting the everyday needs of children impacted by adoption and/or foster care. The conference is also a much-needed resource for churches, agencies, and organizations in their care and support of the families and communities they serve.
The conference includes research-based tools to promote attachment and connection in families such as Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) methods developed by Drs. Karyn Purvis and David Cross at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU. TBRI is a care model designed to help meet relational and developmental needs of children and youth impacted by trauma.
Outlined by Show Hope, the Hope for the Journey Conference also explores the gospel as foundational to TBRI and how churches and organizations can better support children and families in their ministries and communities.
