The North Coastal Council of PTAs, Gr8ful Connections along with our community sponsors, proudly presents nationally sought after Dr. Matt Bellace, PhD in clinical neuropsychology and stand-up comedian; Author of A Better High: Laugh, help, run, love...and other ways to get naturally high! and his Covid-era book - Life is Disappointing. . . and other inspiring thoughts. Join us for an evening "delivering better highs and healthier lows". This promises to be an evening of lots of laughs with an insightful, science-based and engaging approach to substance abuse prevention and mental health awareness. Matt is an expert in the field of neuropsychology who will share the importance of finding your "natural high". During this engaging evening, Matt will focus on mental health, natural highs and coping with disappointment. Matt's humor will help alleviate barriers to have an honest conversation with our kids about drugs and alcohol and other barriers to finding true happiness. Since 1995, Dr. Matt Bellace has been a professional speaker and stand-up comedian. His programs encourage over a hundred thousand youth and adults per year to pursue natural highs and reduce stress. Dr. Bellace has a Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology, which is the study of the brain and behavior. He trained at the National Institutes of Mental Health, the traumatic brain and spinal cord units at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and the Drexel University Counseling Center. In addition to his two books A Better High, and Life is Disappointing Matt is a contributing author for the National Geographic, “Kids and Edutopia”. Matt was also a recurring comedian on truTV's "World's Dumbest" and was featured in the documentary “Voices of Hope” on CBS. In addition to Dr. Bellace, we will have local community resources focused on drug and alcohol abuse prevention, including information about growing incidents of Fentanyl overdose.
