Rochester Fire Department is once again hosting a Women's Fire Expo May 20th from 8:00 AM to 4:30PM . Women and girls 15 years old and up are invited to attend the expo, including those with previous and/or current Fire experience. The goal of the free event is to offer girls and women a chance to see firsthand that being a Firefighter is a viable and rewarding career choice. Each group will have a female firefighter "mentor" that will be with them all day to answer questions, offer tricks and tips they have learned while doing the job and what it's like being a female firefighter. The stations include; vehicle extrication, search and rescue, forcible entry, advancing a charged hose line, rappelling from a 4 story tower, climbing our 105 ft. aerial ladder and a chance to test yourself and go through our physical agility test we use as part of our hiring process. A free lunch will be provided by MNFire along with a presentation about firefighter health and wellness and some of the resources offered to firefighters in Minnesota .
