Summary of Finish It FridayOpen Studio Fee: $10/hour Location: 2005 Eye Street, Suite 4, Bakersfield, CA 93301 12pm-4pm Do you have a project that you’ve been wanting to finish, but haven’t made the time? Do you want to explore your creativity, but don’t want to buy all the art supplies? Join us for Finish It Fridays! Finish It Fridays are Open Studio events that give the community access to art supplies and sewing materials in a supportive and fun environment. Finish It Fridays are an opportunity to bring your project to completion, explore our makerspace materials, and ask artists questions. Please note: No artist instruction will be given, this is a self-led experience. We are located on the 2nd floor of our building. Access to our studio requires 2 flights of stairs. Meet Amanda Shaffer Artist & Owner of The Studio Bakersfield Amanda loves teaching how to sew! Amanda started sewing in high school where she learned to sew from her grandmother. Sewing interested her so much that she then went to college for apparel design. A couple years after graduation, The Studio: Sewing and Creative Classes was born and since then she has taught countless sewing events and lessons to the Bakersfield creative community. When she is not teaching to sew, Amanda enjoys trips to the hot springs and cuddling with her dog Ava. Meet Emily Hay, Artist & Owner of The Playful Space The mission of The Playful Space is to connect the community through creativity and play. Play is vital at all stages of life and TPS is passionate about bringing fun, unique opportunities to Bakersfield. The Playful Space hosts art workshops, creative retreats, & community events all geared towards self expression, connection, and play exploration. Emily brings 15 years of teaching to the studio & enjoys art journaling, giant messy projects, and laughing through mistakes. Her “no rules” in art and “process over product” approach is what keeps her business playful and accessible to all!
