Hi, my name is Michelle, I am the new DHH Parent Facilitator for the South Suburbs. I also work full-time as an Administrative Assistant for Student Services. I am married as well as proud parents to a 23-year-old and 20-year-old college students. In addition, a feisty, creative, funny 15-year-old, diverse learner with Down Syndrome and mild to moderate hearing loss. Our family resides in the south suburb of Glenwood, IL where we have called home for the past 25 years.
This journey of parenting a child with special needs has come with many challenges. One of those is having access to resources, activities, and support for families in the South Cook County area. I was introduced to Illinois Service Resource Center (ISRC), when my child was in kindergarten, and it has been a wonderful resource to our family ever since. I am looking forward to making the connections and offer support to parents in my new position as a Parent Facilitator.
“The Illinois Service Resource Center provides behavior support for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or visually impaired in Illinois. Behavior support can be for individual students with challenges, or at the preventive level with classrooms or school programs. ISRC serves students with hearing loss regardless of communication mode.”
