Our lives changed forever on January 2, 2020, when the matriarch of our family was assaulted with an aluminum baseball bat by an unknown assailant during an attempted carjacking while at one of her favorite local restaurants in Kinston, NC. As a result she has a traumatic brain injury, she's immobile, nonverbal and requires around the clock care but she still has her sweet smile and sweet spirit. The purpose of this event is to raise funds to assist the Pittman family with Nell's care, highlight local resources available for aging adults and their caregivers as well as bring awareness to National Crime Victims' Rights Week. The 2023 NCVRW theme is Survivor Voices: Elevate. Engage. Effect Change.
