This is an event aimed at raising money to give towards the Jimmy V Foundation which helps fund multiple forms of cancer research but has a prevalent focus on helping patients of pediatric cancer. The Jimmy V Foundation was formed by Jimmy Valvano, a legendary coach in the college basketball world who had an early passing due to cancer at age 46. The message he hoped to convey and that we aim at relaying is to “Never give up.” The same way he did and that so many others aim to do every passing minute. With your help we hope to raise over $10,000 dollars tonight and prove we will “never give up” in the fight against cancer. In the words of Jimmy Valvano, "When people say to me how do you get through life or each day, it’s the same thing. To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special." The culmination of our Jimmy V week strives to meet these three goals every day. The Gala will include special guest speakers, a plated dinner, silent auction items, and raffle prizes. A cocktail hour will start the night beginning at 6:00 PM, and the evening will end with the announcement of our fundraising efforts.
