Welcome to the CAMP - College Admissions Map and Plan! Georgia Highlands College will be hosting this workshop for all of our rising seniors, their parents/guardians, and non-traditional students within our community. This includes students and graduates in public, private, or homeschool programs within Cartersville City and Bartow County. We will walk you step by step through the process on how to prepare applying for a 4-year college or university, trade, and /or technical school. Below is a break down of the topics we will be covering.
This event is FREE to our attendees, however, registration is REQUIRED to attend. Lunch will be provided and we will need a confirmed headcount. Please RSVP by July 12, 2023.
Both Wednesday and Thursday will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Below is a brief overview of what the two days will consist of.
Wednesday, July 19th's topic will consist of: How to calculate your GPA. Having choices of colleges and how to narrow down your options. Understanding the college admissions process to include the application. Transcript evaluations and more.
Thursday, July 20th's topic will consist of: How much do my college choices cost. How will I pay for my college of choice. How to find scholarships and knowing the difference between merit and need based scholarships. Completing the FAFSA for both federal aid and HOPE scholarship/Grant and Essay writing. We will also have a guest speaker on our last day you will not want to miss.
You are welcome to attend just one day or both. You will need to reserve a spot for each day. Please reserve one ticket per person (one ticket for students and one for parents/guardian) to allow us to plan for lunch appropriately.
