Description

This hands-on field day will be hosted at Filbert Street Garden and instructed by Marvin Hayes of the Baltimore Compost Collective. Marvin will discuss the benefits of composting and best practices on managing both large and small compost systems. Attendees are invited to bring their own vegetable scraps (more info here) and will have the opportunity to participate in the composting process from start to finish. Together, we will build a new compost pile and process completed compost into the final product - black gold! There will be time at the end of the workshop for attendees to tour the Filbert Streets garden, orchard and animals. This is an in-person workshop. Pre registration is required so we can plan accordingly. We suggest that attendees wear weather appropriate attire, and closed-toed shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Be sure to bring a water bottle! There will be extra masks, waters, hand sanitizer, sunscreen & bug spray on site.
