Urbanist Media in partnership with Union Baptist Cemetery invites you to attend... A dedication of the Newt Allen grave marker on April 15th –Jackie Robinson Day –at 12:00 noon. Appropriate as Newt Allen evaluated Jackie for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1945. Newt spent most of his long baseball career in Kansas City but moved to Cincinnati as an elderly gentleman. He was buried in an unmarked grave in 1988. The location was recently determined, and a marker placed. Buck O’Neil named Allen to his All-Time Negro League team –everyone else on that team is in Cooperstown. More about the Negro League Grave Marker Project here. Also, later in the afternoon, a group will be attending the Cincinnati Reds v Philadelphia Phillies game at GABP.
