The City of Wheat Ridge recently invested $400,000 of its American Rescue Plan dollars into Jefferson Center for Mental Health, a local community partner, to provide resources in response to the growing demand for mental health services. As part of that partnership, we’re offering a series of classes that cover topics such as recognizing different signs and symptoms of mental health and how wellness impacts your mental health. March kicks off our series with: Understanding Mental Health Signs, Symptoms, and Tools (MH 101) Date & Time: Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Speaker: Charles Floyd Presentation Summary: There is a lot of talk about mental health and how important it is, but what does that actually mean? Mental health describes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act, how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. During this presentation, you will learn the basics of mental health, the signs and symptoms of mental health disorders, and how to practice good mental health and connect to care.  Five Dimensions of Wellness Date & Time: Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Speaker: Rachel Vilner Presentation Summary: When the five dimensions of wellness, (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, and Social) are taken care of we are able to thrive in our lives. In this presentation you will learn about each dimension of wellness along with value-driven, actionable self-care strategies that can be implemented in any setting.  Putting Out the Fire: Preventing and Managing Burnout Date & Time: Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Speaker: Charles Floyd Presentation Summary: If you are feeling overwhelmed and overworked, you may be experiencing symptoms of burnout. However, using the right skills, it’s possible to find greater balance and avoid mental exhaustion.
