Description

"When everything in life presses from outside of us, we have no choice but to sing like scared children relying on their song to stop the pain, the way that fire stalls the cold. This is the secret of all spirit, why it cannot stay inside, but must be brought from within us into the world. For it is the song from within that keeps the pain of living from snuffing our lives. It is the song from within ignited, again, and again, that keeps the world going." — Mark NepoCommunal grieving is a technology it’s high time to relearn, and we can’t go there without our bodies. Singing is one way in, to our hearts, to our cells, to our memories, to what it means to rest back into collective holding and Let Go. It’s too big to venture in without each other's compassionate company. Join songleader-ritualists Pam Blevins Hinkle and Lyndsey Scott for a daylong gathering that explores this sacred ground. We’ll move from first grounding in gratitude and grace and all that Sources us, to exploring the tender terrain of what hurts. Through somatic practices, singing, sounding, and ritual, we’ll tend the personal and collective grief we each carry. After the arc of the journey, we’ll feast together in celebration of life on life’s terms. We’ll be drawing wisdom and resource from our teachers:: Joanna Macy, Francis Wellers, Laurence Cole, Rhiannon, Martin Prechtl, Pauline Oliveros, David Darling, and Sobonfu Some. This kind of singing is for all voices, simple songs taught call-and-echo on the spot. We welcome your questions as you discern if this ritual is a fit for you.
