Jasper natives Shalyn Grow and Asya Hildenbrand will host “An Evening of Short Films” at the historic Astra Theatre presented by their company, Va Bene Pictures. The show will start at 6:30pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm. It is a donation-based event with all proceeds going to Va Bene Picture's next project and continuing the High School Short Film Challenge. About: Shalyn and Asya created and hosted a local high school short film competition (see website for more info: https://www.vabenepictures.com/home/shortfilmchallenge). The winning films will be shown at the start of the event. Eleven teams competed from four different high schools: Jasper, Springs Valley, Southridge, and Heritage Hills. The student’s films were scored by a panel of seven industry professionals, most of whom are from southern Indiana. The judges were selected to provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students interested in pursuing film/tv as a career. The second half of the event will be the debut of Va Bene Pictures short film Me and My Shadow (https://www.vabenepictures.com/home/mams).
