In collaboration with the Center for Aquatic Sciences (CAS), Camden FireWorks is happy to announce a new field learning opportunity on Petty’s Island! Not open to the public, Petty’s has a storied history as a hotbed for gambling, shipwrecks, dueling, and was once owned by Venezuela.
But Petty’s, now an island preserve, is also territory to hawks, falcons, waterfowl, and songbirds like the Savannah sparrow, which migrate along the river corridor to find habitat within Petty’s woods and wetlands.
Now YOU not only get to participate in a special hiking tour, but also learn about Petty’s Island birds AND design a birdhouse that will later be installed on the island. Where else can you experience this type of field learning?
Shuttle service will be provided courtesy of CAS and lunch is available for pre-purchase. Must be 16 and up to participate. Registrants will be required to sign a waiver before participating.
