All donations made on behalf of the Ennis Williams, Jr. Scholarship will be considered tax deductible write-offs through the Office of the Comptroller of the State of Texas and the Internal Revenue Service under the Gamma Pi Lambda Community Foundation dba: Galveston Alphas 501(c) (3) tax exemption. ALPHA PHI ALPHA TO HOST THE 4th Annual ENNIS WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON GALVESTON, TX—The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Galveston Alumni Chapter will recognize the late Mr. Ennis Williams, educator and community organizer, with an annual scholarship luncheon in his honor. A dedication scholarship luncheon will be held on 11:30 am , Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort Ballroom, located at 5400 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, Texas. Tickets for the luncheon will be $50 and can be purchased from any member of Gamma Pi Lambda, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Sponsorship Donations will also be accepted and greatly appreciated via Eventbrite $100, $250, $500, and $1,000. President AD Interim for University of Texas Medical Branch Dr. Charles Mouton will be the keynote speaker at the Ennis Williams Scholarship Luncheon. "He was one of Galveston’s finest because of his dedication and love for this community, his family and our youth.” said Douglas Matthews, Assistant Vice President of Government Relations at UTMB and Chaplain of the Alpha Phi Alpha Galveston Alumni Chapter. “Brother Williams exemplified servant-leadership with a passion for educating our youth. His honorable life was befitting of an Alpha Phi Alpha member,” said Hank Thierry, Chapter President of the Alpha Phi Alpha Galveston Alumni Chapter. “Honoring a worthy graduate of Ball High School with an annual scholarship on behalf of Brother Williams effectively assures his continued legacy,” Thierry said. Sherman Elias, Alpha Phi Alpha member and Math Department Head at Ball High School, serves as Chair of the scholarship selection committee. Scholarship selection criteria includes an emphasis on students going to college to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
