Description
Paul Doiron will be coming to the Stowe Free Library on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 7pm for a reading and book signing after a brief Friends of the Stowe Free Meeting. This is a free event and open to the public. Paul Doiron is the best-selling author of the Maine Game warden Mike Bowditch series of crime novels set in the Maine woods. His first book, The Poacher’s Son, won the Barry Award and the Strand Critics Award and was nominated for an Edgar for Best First Novel. His second, Trespasser, won the 2012 Maine Literary Award. His novelette “Rabid” was a finalist for the 2019 Edgar in the Best Short Story category. Paul’s twelfth book, Dead by Dawn, won the New England Society’s 2022 Book Award for Fiction, as well as his second Maine Literary Award. It was also a finalist for the Barry Award. Hatchet Island, the thirteenth book in the series, was named one of the best books of 2022 by Amazon. A selection of the Bowditch books will be available for purchase from Bear Pond Books at the signing so you can catch up before the 14th Mike Bowditch novel, Dead Man’s Wake, comes out on June 27, 2023. The Stowe Free Library, the Morristown Centennial Library and Waterbury Public Library also have his books on their shelves to check out (the books may also be available in ebook form and audio). You can also check your local bookstore such as Bear Pond Books in Stowe or Bridgeside Books in Waterbury, if you wish to buy your own copies. Paul, a Maine native, is an Editor Emeritus of Down East: The Magazine of Maine, having served as Editor in Chief from 2005 to 2013, before stepping down to write full time. Paul is a former member of the Maine Arts Commission and past chair of the Maine Humanities Council. He is also a Registered Maine Guide specializing in fly fishing and lives on a trout stream in coastal Maine with his wife Kristen Lindquist. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Stowe Free Library, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, supporting library resources, activities and programs.
