Come spend the day with the students and staff of Iowa BIG to its competency-based, learner-centered, core-credit awarding, project-based, and community-facing model of education. Participants will get to: Learn and understand the Iowa BIG origin story and how the community designed and advocated for this model of learning;Directly observe and interact with the students of BIG as they engage in their project work and other activities;Engage in a discussion and question/answer session with the leadership and teaching staff of BIG;Learn about how BIG harvests community projects and connects learners to the community;Take home not only inspiration and evidence that this model of education works, but practical ideas that can be adapted for each community's unique context.*Participants may bring one or more 9-12 students as part of their team at no additional charge! Please limit your student team to 3 or less so everyone has the opportunity to include students on their visit team. If you wish to request more than 3, email [email protected]. If student seats remain after all adult tickets or sold, we may grant permission for you to bring more than 3.
