ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - www.livingworks.net) is a TWO-DAY workshop which provides training in how to recognize, assess, and support a person in crisis.  ASIST is designed for individuals who want to gain additional skills to directly intervene with a person at risk for suicide (i.e., beyond the skills learned via safeTALK or other more general gatekeeper trainings).  You'll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive.  This is a highly interactive and practice-oriented workshop which uses a variety of methods including group discussion, videos, and role-play.   Reminders: 1) Attendance for BOTH full days is required for certification. 2) For lunch on both days, participants should plan to purchase nearby or bring their own lunch. There will be an ample lunch break period. 3) Those who have experienced a recent loss to suicide, or are personally struggling, may find attending suicide prevention trainings very difficult. Please take the time to assess your readiness to attend a workshop. For survivor resources, feel free to contact us. 4) Thanks to our generous partners and sponsors, there is no cost to attend this training. However, there is a maximum capacity of participants, so PLEASE be sure of your ability to attend BOTH FULL DAYS before registering. Please also notify us ASAP if you register but later are unable to attend, so we may immediately open the seat to another participant.
