Have you recently relocated to ATL or its surrounding locations? Do you want to see some of the rich history located in your new backyard? Have you been in ATL for a while and wondered about what happened here during the Civil War? Then we welcome you to join Dr. Dan Pollock, who is now retired from CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network as Branch Chief, and Health Scientist Dr. Odion Clunis, MPH DrPH (c) for our second annual "Woke" tour.
With the pandemic somewhat under control, we thought it would be a great time to bring us all back together for another moment to gather and absorb some of the rich, deep, and awesome history of this great city in a revamped manner to highlight more significant events that are current to our lived experiences.
The tour will begin at 10 am on May 6, 2023 at Oakland Cemetery in southeast Atlanta, near Memorial Drive. You can park in the public lot just outside Oakland’s main gate at Martin Luther King Jr Drive and Oakland Ave. We will gather at the main gate at 10 am to discuss some of the significant history and take a short stroll through Oakland before boarding the tour bus for visits, including short walks, at additional sites in Grant Park, Kirkwood, East Atlanta, and Inman Park neighborhoods east of downtown. We will return to Oakland at 2 pm that afternoon.
If you and your loved ones want to join us, please use the following link to reserve your spot as seats are limited. The bus is expected to fill up quickly.
