The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!
For twelve years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and many other cities . . . and now, right here in Trenton, New Jersey!
Make your FREE reservation for the TRENTON screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Chris Grabenstein (Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library, The Smartest Kid in the Universe, and more).
We'll be showing movies made by kids from New Jersey and some of the best from around the country.
This year, the Trenton 90-Second Newbery will screen on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 3-4:30 pm at the main branch of the New Jersey State Museum Auditorium. James's and Chris's books will be available for sale, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket.
