Join Dr. Marker, executive founder and director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), who will present Cheetah Conservation while also conveying a larger message about how the welfare of people, ecosystems, and animals are inextricably bound together. CCF’s innovative “holistic conservation strategy” is in alignment with several of the UN’s seventeen SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals): they strive “to develop best practices that benefit the entire ecosystem upon which the cheetah depends. CCF’s programs address the concerns for wildlife populations and the human communities that share the landscape.” Several chapters in her edited volume about cheetahs discuss the connection between cheetah conservation and the SDGs. Additional Information: DONATION: $5 • All proceeds will be donated to the CHEETAH CONSERVATION FUND Hors d'oeuvres will be served. Parking can be challenging and is metered at Regis, so please arrive early and enjoy a catered reception starting at 4:30 pm. LAURIE MARKER is a renowned conservation scientist and Founder of the Cheetah Conservation Fund. She launched CCF in Namibia with a mission to create a permanent place for cheetahs. She is currently developing a second Cheetah Centre in Somaliland to support East African populations and combat the illegal wildlife trade in cubs.
