Redwood City Education Foundation will host a thought-provoking panel discussion on the importance of equity and inclusion in our local schools and communities. Our expert panel, moderated by Sara Alexander, Executive Director of the Redwood City Education Foundation, will shed light on how the social and economic realities of living in the Bay Area impact our schools. Featured Panelists: Briana Evans (Equity and Inclusion Officer, City of Redwood City)Dr. Amy Gerstein (Executive Director, John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities) Pati Ortiz (former Director of Community Schools and Partnership, Redwood City School District)Lupe Guzman (Principal, Hoover Community School)They will delve into the educational barriers disproportionately faced by our most vulnerable community members. During this time, we will examine the unmet needs of RCSD students and explore possibilities for how the whole community can work together to address those needs. This event provides a unique opportunity for local leaders and concerned community members to join an important conversation and learn strategies to support our local students. Attendees will leave inspired by the work already being done to address educational equity in Redwood City, and motivated to become part of the solution. Light refreshments will be served, doors open at 9:00 am.
