At our March Workshop we’re bringing you a combination of networking, education and hands-on mending! Attendees will arrive and have the opportunity to mingle and network with other passionate sustainability-minded individuals while snacking on local food and sipping on refreshments. 
Andrea Reyes, fair trade advocate, educator, sustainable fashion matchmaker, and Chairwoman of the NYC Fair Trade Coalition is going to teach you all about the myths surrounding sustainable fashion and how to shop more responsibly. Kaara Henriquez is going to lead our mending session. Have you found yourself with a fallen button, small holes near your thighs and elbows, and left wanting to repair them but just don't know how? In 3 easy creative techniques, Kaara is going to teach you how to mend your clothes, hands-on! This workshop will teach how to sew a button embroidering a flower, mend your holes with custom illustrated stickers, and go over the classic technique of darning holes to incorporate healthy habits into our fashion lifestyle. Erin Weis will also be in attendance. She’s the Education & Outreach Coordinator at FABSCRAP INC, an amazing nonprofit that is rethinking textile waste by providing pickup of unwanted fabric from businesses and engaging local creative communities in reuse. The NYC Fair Trade Coalition is hosting us at their Sustainable Fashion Community Center—a safe space to clean out your closet, pick up new threads by shopping the swap and learn how to get more involved in the sustainable fashion movement. The NYC Fair Trade Coalition offers a unique educational experience for ethically-aligned businesses, students of sustainability, and advocates by creating space to incubate and activate local communities.
