Description

Join us to raise money for Westhaven's Habitat for Humanity project while listening to award-winning songwriters. Tickets include Margaritas and Tacos! Doors open at 6 PM for the silent auction and food with music starting at 7 PM. For the past eight years, a team of Westhaven women has participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build. This year the Westhaven community, as a whole, is sponsoring an entire house to be built in Columbia for D’Angelo and Tierra Bettis and their four young children! As the primary sponsor of the house, Westhaven residents are being given a total of ten build days to come out to the home site and help this family build their dream. The 10 days have been designed to provide two days for the Women’s Team, one day for couples, another for parents with their teens and one solely for teens, with other days being available for individual resident volunteers, Town Center merchants, Southern Land Company employees, and sponsors. Due to our expanded level of participation this year, the fundraising goal has been increased to $70,000, the amount needed to purchase all of the building materials for the Bettis home. To achieve this goal, the involvement of the entire Westhaven community is needed. One way to show support for the Westhaven Build is by attending this Songwriter Event, one of our two major fundraising efforts. Tony Arata is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Garth Brooks recorded Tony’s song “The Dance” which won ACM song of the year and received both a CMA and a Grammy nomination. He has also had No. 1 records with “Here I Am” for Patty Loveless, “I’m Holding My Own” for Lee Roy Parnell, and “Dreaming With My Eyes Open” for Clay Walker. Other artists who have recorded his songs include Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Delbert McClinton, Don Williams, Reba McEntire, Suzy Bogguss, and Hal Ketchum. Marc Beeson has songs recorded by Sam Hunt, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire, and Chicago, among others. He has also won 12 ASCAP awards including both Country and Pop Song of the Year for his No. 1 hit "When She Cries” by Restless Heart. He also co-wrote Billy Currington’s No.1 single, “We Are Tonight,” the title track of Ashley Monroe's Grammy-nominated record, “The Blade,” Blake Shelton's "She's Got A Way With Words,” Josh Turner’s No. 1 single "Hometown Girl,” and “The Bullet,”' from Carrie Underwood’s Grammy-nominated record, Cry Pretty. Marcus Hummon is a Grammy winner, and two-time Songwriter’s Hall of Fame nominee, his best-known hits are: ‘Bless The Broken Road’ (Rascal Flatts), ‘Cowboy Take Me Away’, and ‘Ready To Run’ (The Dixie Chicks), ‘Born To Fly’ (Sara Evans), ‘One Of These Days’ (Tim McGraw), and ‘Only Love’ (Wynonna). Several of his songs have been nominated for Grammys, ACMs and CMAs and Dove Awards. In 2005, ‘Bless The Broken Road’, won the Grammy for ‘Best Country Song’ (NSAI’s Best Country Song 2005 and 2007). Along the way, he has garnered numerous BMI awards.
