Description
The 2023 Hopes & Dreams Conference provides an opportunity for professionals, family members and self advocates to learn more about the resources and support available to the special needs community. Presentations and workshops will focus on topics related to new diagnosis, early intervention, elementary and secondary education, advocacy, transition, and mental and behavioral health. Hot topics included in these workshops: Family Engagement, Child & Youth Mental and Behavioral Health, Medicaid and Waivers and more. Participants will explore these issues and challenges, gaining valuable information that can be incorporated into their everyday life. Family members are also able to connect with professionals who care for children of all ages with various disabilities and long-term healthcare issues. This increased collaboration between parents and professionals sets the stage for all children and individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. Foster Care Credits have been approved for all workshops (up to 4.5 hours for the entire conference). AHEC: This program is approved for 0.5 CEU’s (5.5 clock hours) of continuing education by Mid-Carolina AHEC, Inc. and meets the SC AHEC Continuing Education Best Practice Standards. Participants must attend 90% of the program to receive a certificate of attendance. No partial credit will be given.COUNSELORS & THERAPISTS: This program has been pre-approved for 5.5 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists. NURSING: Mid-Carolina AHEC is an approved provider of nursing continuing professional development by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.This nursing continuing education activity approval # 2110-022PR-284 has been approved for 5.5 hours.SOCIAL WORKERS: This program has been approved by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners for 5.5 clock hours of NON-social work continuing education. Part C Credentialing - approved - BabyNet personnel will need to email Lisa Henry ([email protected]) to have the 2023 Hopes & Dreams Conference evaluation added to their training account. They will be asked to provide the name and brief description of the workshop that they attended during each of the breakout sessions.
