Description

Saturday, April 8, 2023 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Instructor: Robert Bowden Mention the word “Florida” and one thinks about sun, sand and palm trees. It’s true, we are fortunate to live in the Sunshine State, however, there are many home landscapes that have both sun and shade. Enjoy a fact-filled presentation by Robert Bowden, recently retired Director of Leu Gardens, as he discusses a wide variety of colorful plants that perform beautifully in shady locations. Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.  Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit. If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.
