Tough Plants Don’t Have to Be Ugly Thursday, April 6, 2023 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Instructor: Robert Bowden Add some flower power to your garden year after year with these tough-as-nails hardy and beautiful plants. When you need reliable and low-maintenance plants that also offer some serious flower power, these durable plants are the way to go. Each of these plants can tolerate challenging conditions such as high temperatures, full sun, drought, poor soil, and come back with beautiful blooms every year. One lucky participant will leave with a tough but beautiful plant for their garden! Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request.  Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.  If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit. Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom.  Childcare services are not provided.
