What is Gopher Tortoise Day?
Acording to the Gopher Tortoise Council, "April 10th was officially adopted by the Gopher Tortoise Council as Gopher Tortoise Day! The goal of Gopher Tortoise Day is to increase awareness and appreciation for these long lived, gentle reptiles."

About this Nature Fun-Day: For this Nature Fun-Day, we will investigate the lives of gopher tortoises, their role in the ecosystem, the plants they like, and more! Booths will be set up all around the center with crafts, activities, and educational materials.
In addition to our normal event, we will be having a special presentation about gopher tortoises hosted in the Discovery Center Workshop Building at 10:30am.
Date & Time : Saturday, April 8th,
9:30am-12:00pm: Nature Fun-Day Activity Booths10:30am-11:15am: Gopher Tortoise Presentation Location: The flexi-pave trail leading out from the Discovery Center. Around the picnic pavilions. See map below. (If rain is forecasted the morning of the event, stations will be move into the Nature Center.)
The Gopher Tortoise Presentation will be held in the Discovery Center Workshop Building

Tickets & Sign-Ups: No sign-up required, but is highly recommended to help for planning purposes.
Who should sign up for this? This event is open to all ages and groups. (The Gopher Tortoise Presentation in the workshop is recomended for ages 8 and up.)
