旅法陳慧齡導演回到故鄉悼念離世的祖母，除了面對模糊的家族記憶，她也意識到國家歷史的斷裂問題。透過給學生們的美術作業，陳慧齡邀請多位年輕人以家族記憶為題，訪談祖父母並為他們繪製肖像畫，來實踐一個歷時十年的行為藝術：「群像」的拼組。從滿州國死裡逃生的客家運匠傳奇、走在阿塱壹古道娓娓談起先祖的斯卡羅後人、滿頭白髮嬌羞回憶與日本軍官的排灣族「公主」、落地生根多年卻仍難忘家鄉山河的老兵，不願重拾失親傷痛的受難者家屬，以及那一封封字字血淚卻未曾寄達的遺書，和早已埋沒在荒草間，曾是知識分子為躲避白色恐怖而自囚十八年的地窖。 〈給阿媽的一封信〉曾經入圍金馬獎最佳紀錄片，當過美術教師的導演陳慧齡用精緻的畫面，採取平靜的敘事方式，試圖撫慰七十年後依然難以撫平的傷痛 (導演專訪 )。 本活動由明州台灣同鄉會和明大台灣同學會共同主辦。觀眾可以免費入席。 為支應本次活動的費用，請考慮上網小額捐助：贊助阿媽的一封信。所有捐款皆可抵稅。 電影放映期間，主辦單位為可獨立如廁兒童(約兩歲)提供托兒服務。因人手有限，若有意托兒，請儘早訂票，並於填資料時註明。 French-based director Huiling Chen returned to her hometown to mourn her deceased grandmother. Not only did she face vague family memories, but she also realized the problem of the rupture of the country's history. She invited many young people to share their family memories, such as the Hakka bus driver who escaped from Manchuria, the descendants of Scarlo who talked about their ancestors on the Alang One Ancient Road, and the white-haired Paiwan princess who recalled her acquaintance with a Japanese military officer, the Chinese veteran who still misses his hometown after taking root in Taiwan, and the family of the 228 victim who is unwilling to face the pain of losing a loved one again, different journeys that connected together a past history of the island. "A Letter to Ama" was shortlisted for the Best Documentary Film at the Golden Horse Awards. The director Huiling Chen, who was an art teacher, used exquisite images and adopted a calm narrative to try to soothe the pain that is still difficult to heal after seven decades (An English review of the film) .
