Dear Family, Friends and Fans,
As you may or may not know, I have kidney disease and my kidneys have stopped working. My doctors have recommended that I consider getting a kidney transplant. Having a new kidney to replace my kidneys that are not functioning will give me the greatest chance of living a long lifetime. I would also have more freedom and energy. I could get a kidney from the deceased donor waiting list, but it takes a long time. There are almost 100,000 people on the transplant waiting list already.
Unfortunately, many may never get the call saying that a suitable donor organ and a second chance at life has been found. It's estimated that every day in the U.S. 20 patients die because of the lack of donor organs. So, I may have to spend 4 to 8 years on the transplant waiting list before I receive a matching kidney from a deceased donor. I am glad to have the option of dialysis to keep me alive while I wait, but it takes a lot of time and can cause more health problems. So, I am hoping that I can get a transplant sooner rather than later.
For these reasons I'm giving awareness for all people to get checked up and learn about your health & avoid any complications in your life. I am asking for your help in spreading the word. If you would be willing to learn more, please go to www.exploretransplant.org.
Sincerely, Ryan K
