BIPOC Community Hike and Hoagie Feast

Join us for a morning in nature at South Mountain Wildlands Preserve followed by a Hoagie Feast at Boroline Park. We will offer two hikes: Hike One: 2 miles, limited elevation. Frequent stops and check ins regarding pace. Plenty of time to take pictures and play in spots. This hike will be a good option for anyone looking for a shorter distance, slower pace, and good conversation. Its also a good choice for those unfamiliar with hiking, and families with younger children who may (or may not) tire a little faster.Hike Two: 4 miles, limited elevation. Plenty of time for photos, but a faster pace than the 2 mile hike with less regrouping. Still a no drop hike and will check in regarding pace. Good option for those comfortable walking or hiking on uneven terrain, for at least 3 miles (5km). Friendly Dogs are welcome on leash for either hike. Neither one of these hikes offer any benches or seating to rest on. The health and safety of each participant is of the upmost importance. Please take a moment to evaluate your physical ability as well as your energy level and choose the hike that will bring you the most joy while responsibly enjoying nature in community. Camera or phone for photosWhat to Wear: Sturdy closed toe shoes. Spring weather can be unpredictable. Be prepared by dressing layers. Avoid cotton layers as cotton will hold moisture when wet (or sweaty) making it difficult for the body to stay warm.We at Afros in Nature believe the outdoors should be safe and accessible.
