We present a practical and effective multi-modal approach to assessment, treatment, and management of the lumbar spine, SIJ, and pelvis. This course integrates concepts that include traditional joint mobilization/manipulation, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), osteopathic manual therapy, McKenzie, Mulligan, and Maitland. It is intended for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants and is presented in a format that includes lecture and lots of interactive hands on lab. Course Description: This course focuses on an integrated approach to treating the lumbar spine, SIJ, and pelvis along the continuum of rehabilitation to performance. Emphasis is placed on an approach that combines various manual therapy philosophies into an integrated system. The format of the course includes a combination of lecture and lab. A functional review of the anatomy and bio-mechanics of the lumbopelvic region and the integrated biomechanical examination is presented. The lab material includes the examination and identification of various somatic dysfunctions. An integrated treatment approach is presented and practiced with integrating Muscle Energy Techniques, Osteopathic Manual Therapy, Joint Mobilization/Manipulation. Other manual techniques (McKenzie, Mulligan, and Maitland) are incorporated into the rehabilitation plan. Concepts related to the principles of muscle balance, strengthening & conditioning are included with special application of the functional and corrective exercises prescription as an adjunct to manual therapy and performance.
