Description
Did you know that clothing companies create more than 1 million garments every day? The overproduction of these supplies contribute majorly to waste water, plastic pollution, release of carbon emissions, and unethical labor. In honor of Earth Month, we’re shining light on the harmful impacts fast fashion has on the planet and its people by offering a community clothing swap event. Connect with your community and consciously revamp your wardrobe by bringing up to 10 gently used items of clothing, to swap for an item(s) of your choosing! Who doesn’t love finding a unique secondhand gem? Please join us, in celebrating the beauty and magic of our Mother Earth, while helping to contribute to a more conscious approach to fashion. Why shop when you can swap! How it Works While this is a free event, we ask that you kindly register ahead of time using Eventbrite. Check in will begin at 10:30 am. A table will be set up near the front entrance of the Rec Center to accept your clothes and give you tickets to swap.Swap will begin @ 11 am. Enjoy coffee & snacks while our volunteers set up donated clothing (Please bring a re-usable mug). The swap is one-to-one – so if an attendee brings one item, they get one ticket to exchange for a piece of clothing at the swap. We will be accepting a MAX of 10 pieces of gently used clothing per person. All donated clothing must be in good condition and freshly laundered. Please note: We have the right to turn down any items that do not apply to our quality standards (see details below)All remaining clothing will be donated to local charity.Quality Standards All items will be carefully reviewed during registration.
