As temperatures finally warm up and our fruit trees are about to leaf out, it is the perfect time to gather around fruit tree pruning and care. Neil Bertrando of RT Permaculture has been working with fruit trees longer than most in our region. To glean his experience is a wonderful opportunity for our community to expand our knowledge of fruit trees. What to cut, where to cut, why to cut and when. We will practice on 1-3 year old trees fo various genus. Bring an open mind, questions, photographs of your home trees, water, possibly sunscreen and friends! This is a great day for us to get together and connect, as it has been a while since we have gathered. The event is located at Serj's house, the owner of a popular Local and Organic restaurant called Thali. Within the last few years Serj has planted around 20 fruit trees on his property in an urban setting. Anyone with new fruit trees who wants to make the best choices for their trees long term health and production will really benefit from this workshop. We may get to help with the pruning of some of the trees if we feel comfortable. Even if fruit trees aren't your thing, stop by and spend some time with your permaculture club family.
