Join us for our April WSA Meeting where we will hear from an engaging panel of new small business owners in Oshkosh, WI. Speakers for the panel include: Karl Loewenstein - Sturgeon Spirits, Carter Brown - GoGuide, Nathan Krohn - Teriyaki Madness. Karl Loewenstein is the founder and president of Sturgeon Spirits Craft Distillery. He started distilling over 10 years ago in his garage. He began the process of creating the only distillery in Oshkosh 2 years ago and opened the doors in November 2022. Karl, also a history professor at UW Oshkosh, believes in community, sustainability, and spirited living. https://sturgeonspirits.com/ Carter Brown is a 23-year-old founder of GoGuide, which is a SaaS enabled marketplace for the outdoor industry. Despite having no prior knowledge of building software, as a senior in college Carter was able to raise capital, find cofounders and begin building what would soon become GoGuide. Carter graduated from the University of Colorado in 2021 with a Finance and Entrepreneurship degree before going full time running GoGuide which he continues to lead as CEO today. In November GoGuide finished beta testing and has currently raised over half of their seed round of funding in recent months. https://goguide.io/ Sergeant Krohn was born on October 18, 1988, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on October 26, 2008, and attended recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, California where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class. In February 2009, he reported to the Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton in California. In March 2009 PFC Krohn reported to Motor Transport Instruction School where he received the primary MOS of 3531 (Motor Vehicle Operator) then went on to receive his secondary MOS of 3533 (Logistics Vehicle Operator) and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. In August 2009, Lance Corporal Krohn reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 7 where he served as the Line NCO for 2nd Platoon Transportation Support Company. In March 2010 Lance Corporal Krohn won the Regimental Non-Commissioned Officer of the quarter board and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal where he was transferred to Headquarters and served as a Company training NCO. During this time he nominated again as the Regimental NCO of the Quarter and was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant under two years’ time in service and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2011, and served as Headquarters Platoon Sergeant. In January 2012, Sergeant Krohn was transferred to 1st Platoon Transportation Support Company and served as the Platoon Sergeant. During this period, he was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Metal. In August 2012, Sergeant Krohn re-enlisted in his primary MOS of 3531 and volunteered for Recruiting Duty where he reported to Recruiting Station Milwaukee, Recruiting Sub Station Racine for Recruiting Duty where he served as the NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge) of Recruiting Sub-Station Racine and won Station of the Year. In October 2016, Nathan Krohn’s contracted obligations ended where he served 8 years active duty. In July 2022 Nathan Krohn opened a restaurant; Teriyaki Madness where he is currently serving big bowls of awesomeness and loves serving his community. https://teriyakimadness.com/
