PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM. THERE ARE A LOT OF IMPORTANT DETAILS TO SHARE IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS EVENT A SUCCESS. THANK YOU! Join us for our 2nd Annual Homeschool Field Day in the Park! We will gather together on THURSDAY, April 27th at Liza Jackson Park in Mary Esther from 10:30-2pm, for some friendly competition and fun! Mark your calendars now and make sure to RSVP at the link provided, NO LATER than THURSDAY, APRIL 13th. Field Day is FREE (we do need donations for various items - see list link to sign up) and open to all who RSVP. **LINK Coming Soon** Check in will start promptly at 10:30 am, with events to follow from approximately 10:45-12:15pm. We'll break for lunch (bring your own sack lunch) and then will resume Field Day with a group wide water balloon toss, followed by an awards presentation. *Details will be added to this page throughout the upcoming weeks so please make sure to check back in periodically.* Please have kiddos dress in closed toed shoes. Don't forget the sunscreen, hats, bug spray, umbrellas, etc...See you soon! Day of Details: EVENTS: -3 Legged Race -Potato Sack Race -Hula Hoop Contest -Egg Spoon Relay -Bean Bag Toss -20 or 40 yd Dash -Jump Rope Contest -Wheelbarrow Race -Tug-O-War -Bubble and Chalk Stations -Water Balloon Toss (last event of the day) FOOD: -Snacks will be available at one of the station rotations. We will have: -Bananas/Oranges -Bottled Water -Freeze Pops (during awards presentation) -Lunch is BYO food and drinks! Picnic time :-) HOW IT WILL WORK: After registration is completed, all participants will be placed into groups based on their age (~3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13+ and if needed, under 2 will have an activity at each station as well.) You will be notified about your child’s group ahead of time as we are hoping to have each group wear a different color shirt so the members are easy to identify. On the day of the event, when you arrive at the park, please head to our check in table (pavilion C). Upon check-in kids will be organized into their groups and will travel from station to station with this group for all field day events. Each station will have a clipboard with directions for the event. We are depending on parents in each group to step up and take turns running the event at the station they are in. For example: Johnny, Sally, Bob, Lucy, Joe and Sarah are all in group A. Group A starts at station 1. Upon arrival at the station, Johnny's mom will read the instructions, and direct the participants in the activity. When the time is up at that station, Johnny's mom will place instructions/items back where they started so the next group can use them. Johnny and his mom will then move to the next station with the rest of the group. At station 2, Sally's mom will oversee the activity. This will continue through each station with Bob, Lucy and Sarah's parents taking a turn to lead (of course this is just an example-your group may choose how to agree upon leadership for each station-we just don't want one parent to get stuck with the responsibility of leading each station-unless he/she wants to πŸ˜‰ ) This is the ONLY* way we are able to make this Field Day happen. This allows all parents to travel and watch their kids participate so we are really counting on YOUR support πŸ™‚ *Please contact us if you have any older siblings or family friends that are interested in staying at a station and leading it. We will gladly sign off on volunteer hours for this event. Thanks! **WEATHER: We will be monitoring the weather as the date approaches and keep everyone updated. In the event of weather cancellation, we will reschedule for Thursday, May 4th. Thank you in advance to everyone who is willing to help out - either by helping with planning, bringing a needed item, setting/cleaning up, etc...We will have a final planning meeting in April (event/date details to come). On the day of the event we will need a team of parents at the park around 9:30am to set up, and we will definitely need support to clean up and leave the park looking as nice as it was when we found it πŸ˜‰ It takes a village and we already know how awesome the local Okaloosa County Homeschool community is so we have all the faith that this is going to be an awesome event!!
