Description

Difficulty: Moderate, with some rocky inclines with uneven surfaces Pace: Slow Appropriate for: All Hike Leader: Boot Boutwell About Boot: Roland “Boot” Boutwell, a freelance itinerant naturalist, has been leading nature walks for The Friends of the Fells for nearly 25 years. He has also led walks and/or taught botany programs for a number of other organizations including The Trustees of Reservations, Arlington Community Education, The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, Winchester public schools, Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, The New England Wild Flower Society and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. About the Hike: Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, and it has been with us now for a month. Several early spring flowers are now poking their heads above ground, and of course the days continue to get longer. We’ll celebrate the season by heading out into The Greenwood Park section of The Middlesex Fells in search of signs of spring. We’ll begin with a little poetry, but the focus will be on plant ID and fun and interesting natural history. We’ll meet in the Greenwood Park parking lot, 176 Pond St in Stoneham across the street from the Stone Zoo. Steady rain cancels. Contact: Boot Boutwell (781-729-4712) or [email protected]
