The Pickleball for a Purpose Tournament is right around the corner! Northwestern Mutual’s Callaway Black Group will be hosting the tournament at The Atlanta Pickleball Center on April 15th, 2023. Doors open at 9 am for check-in and warm-ups and play will begin at 10 am sharp! All proceeds from this tournament go directly to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. PBTF was founded in Atlanta in 1991 and is the world's largest nonprofit dedicated to fighting the deadliest childhood cancers. This premier local tournament is open to all ages and skill levels with divisions being set by skill. Each registration fee covers two players on one team, and there will be 18 teams per division. All players can expect to compete in a minimum of 5 games (to 11, win by 2) for each event. All events will include round-robin matches followed by bracket/medal matches. Food and drinks will be provided throughout the tournament, including lunch by Gusto! Participants can also enjoy happy hour during a post-tournament exhibition game featuring Danny Weurffel, Kevin Sheehan, and more! ***There will also be raffle prizes to raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation - please stay tuned for more information*** Determining your "Skill" Level for Registration *If you have played in tournaments before, please register at or above your most recent playing level* [Beginner- < 3.0] - Gets serves in regularly | Knows where to stand on court during serve, return of serve & general play| Knows fundamental rules & can keep score | Moves quickly towards non-volley zone when opportunity exists [Intermediate- 3.5] - Gets high majority of serves in| Serves deep & return serves deep | Demonstrates broad knowledge of game | Anticipates opponent’s shots resulting in good court position | Demonstrates 3rd shot strategies; drops, lobs & hard groundstrokes [Advanced- 4.0+] - Shows superior level of skill, strategy, quickness of hands & movement | Uses power, placement, sustained volleying, and strong put-aways | Adjusts according to opponent’s strength & weaknesses | Ability & agility separates these players
