Dolls have an ancient (sometimes spooky) legacy in both magic and folklore. Also known as sympathetic or image magic, the practice of using a representation with intention dates back to Egypt, Greece, and even beyond.
Effigies, poppets, moppets, pippets… voodoo dolls… each a likeness of a human, animal, or spirit, creates a target. And unlike in the movies, this is more often done to help, not to hurt.
Join Parlour resident, Rissa Miller, and HIVE resident artist Kate Rush for an in-depth experience with magical dolls, including a glimpse into their history and use, as well as a hand-on project crafting your own Guatemalan-inspired worry dolls.
All supplies are included. Please note, the nature of witchcraft itself is less the focus of this program, and no instruction will be offered in specific spiritual practices. Due to the nature of this programs's content, it is not recommended for audience members under the age of 14.
