In early December 2022, Livia was preparing for Christmas (her favorite time of the year) when reoccurring headaches led her to seek medical attention. Then her life, and her family's lives, changed forever.
Livia had a tumor on her brain stem the size of a grape. Just days before Christmas, she underwent a 17 hour surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. She was in ICU for almost two weeks, and due to ICU restrictions, she was unable to see her older brother and sister at all during that time. In early January, she was able to go home and start the next phase of her treatment.
Days later, her pathology report indicated that her cancer was fast growing and more aggressive treatment was necessary. She began radiation immediately.
After a spinal tap in late January, the family discovered that the cancerous cells were not only in her brain, but had spread to her spinal fluid. Radiation would now occur both on her brain and spine. And the side effects would be grueling for anyone, let alone a young girl.
Livi has not been able to attend school or dance since her diagnosis. So since she can't come to us, we are coming to her! Join us as we celebrate her strength and lift her spirits during what will be an incredible evening.
