OIEA 2023 Annual Conference

Description

ThemeThe theme of this year’s conference is ‘Resurgence’. Indigenous resurgence represents revitalization of various aspects of our cultures and identities (e.g. music, literature, art) in spaces that have been historically used to take those aspects away, such as education, and the reclaiming of those spaces to teach and promote Indigenous ways of knowing. Indigenous resurgence isn’t just something that takes place in the classroom though, and we engage in acts of resurgence every day. This includes small, daily actions like learning and practicing our languages in the home or cooking traditional foods, as well as major acts of resistance and social change to protect our environments and homelands.
