The Renée Crown Wellness Institute’s Mindful Campus & Girls Like Us Programs are excited and honored to announce the offering of a Speaker Series for the 22-23 academic year. We are looking forward to inviting both local and national mindfulness leaders to engage with our communities.
Join our co-sponsored session of the 2023 Mindful Campus and Girls Like Us Speaker Series with featured speaker Kriste Peoples, in conversation around: Reclaiming Our Nature: For Black girls and women, connecting with the outdoors invites opportunities for mindfulness. However, outdoor spaces have also been locations of intergenerational trauma.
In this interactive discussion, Kriste will share stories of her own experiences in nature. We will gain an understanding of how to notice somatic responses to different energies, and how to craft inspiring new narratives of wellness out of doors.
Additionally, Kriste will facilitate a stillness practice and reflection, outside, near the Crown Institute.
Kriste Peoples Biography
Kriste Peoples is a Denver-based outdoor enthusiast and guide, runner, writer, and mindfulness meditation teacher. She serves as the Assistant Executive Director of Women's Wilderness, a nonprofit organization with a mission to support girls and women in accessing their power through fostering deeper connections to the outdoors and community. When she's not exploring the trails of Colorado’s Front Range or working to create new narratives of wellness in the communities she serves, Kriste is likely somewhere planning her next mountain adventure.
