Description
Hood Canal Fjord Fest is a Memorial Day weekend family festival celebrating Hood Canal Spot Shrimp and other local seafood. It lures hungry seafood lovers from all over the Northwest to fish Hood Canal’s rich waters, and festival goers to enjoy the festival activities and local food. There are activities for all ages, individuals, and families including rides, activities, live music, arts and crafts, food booths and a beer and wine garden. The Hood Canal tides are usually low enough during this weekend for easy harvest of clams and oysters on the public beaches near the festival, (license required) and the weather is traditionally good in Brinnon on Memorial Day weekend. This is a great family fun event! We look forward to seeing you! The Brinnon Shrimp Festival began in 1993. Over the years, the proceeds have benefited our community through donations to the Brinnon School and the Brinnon Volunteer Ambulance & Firefighters Association, Brinnon and Quilcene Community Centers, Food Banks as well as many other community projects. Saturday , May 27th 11am - The Band LeLe - The Band LeLe was formed in Edmonds, WA by three local musicians who were looking for a creative outlet. What began as a fun cover band grew into something more as they began writing their own music. Songwriting not only gave them something special to offer listeners, but it proved to be incredibly cathartic. They come from three different backgrounds: Bec with her acoustic singer songwriter vibes, Rachel a true 90s child inspired by grunge, and Elizabeth with her love of musical theater and a soft spot for jazz classics. They worked together to blend their styles and their adoration of the ukulele to develop their unique indie folk sound. As they like to joke, it’s hard to make the ukulele sound sad, but they take that as a challenge! Saturday, May 27th - 12:45pm - The Elderberries - The Elderberries are a classic rock cover band consisting of six band members, all residents of the Kala Point community in Port Townsend, WA. All six members have decades of experience as musicians having performed in several bands prior to forming the Elderberries amidst the 2020 pandemic. We play a wide range of classic rock, covering songs by Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bonnie Raitt, and many, many more. Saturday, May 27th - 2:30pm - Buck Ellard Band - The Buck Ellard Band is a traditional country band with more years experience than we would like to say. Buck was voted "Best Live Performer" by the readers of the Peninsula Daily News for the years 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022. He has a song in the movie "Dead in 5 Heartbeats" and has toured Europe, Canada and the U.S., opening for acts such as David Alan Coe and Hank Williams III. The Buck Ellard Band plays covers of George Strait, Alan Jackson, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Chris Stapleton, Merle Haggard and many many more. They also play some of their own originals. Saturday, May 27th - 4:15pm - Olympic Express Big Band - The Olympic Express Big Band, featuring vocalist Jessie Lee Spicher, seats top musicians from Sequim, Port Townsend, Port Angeles, and Joyce. Choosing from a vast repertoire of scores, they tailor performances to suit the customer. At festivals, they enjoy performing exciting concert arrangements, as well as dance tunes of all styles from all generations and all genres. Come and listen to some Glenn Miller, and Benny Goodman through Huey Lewis and Herbie Hancock, with some country, latin, and boogie-woogie thrown in for good measure! Rob creates his own original sound with his unique voice and Duncan spins magic with his slick licks on the electric guitar. The Black Chevys is a band you will not want to miss!! Sunday, May 28th - 12:45pm - Sound Advice - Sound Advice Band is a dance band located on the Olympic Peninsula. They play Motown, Classic Soul & Rock favorites from the 60s and 70s that will get you movin’ and groovin’. The band is led by Dawn Martin on lead vocals and keyboard. Scott Bradley plays lead guitar and back up vocals. Mark Parris is on bass and vocals and Russ Lowry is on drums. All lifelong musicians, they have not only studied music but also have years of performing experience. They are polished and dynamic entertainers! Sunday, May 28th - 2:30pm - Chimacum Creek Band - Their original music evokes memories of the iconic bands of the 60's and 70's, drawing on rock, folk, and Austin-country influences, with the occasional latin groove. Their crowd-pleasing vocals and musicianship offer hope, and inspiration in the coming year -- a feeling of sitting at home and dancing in the living room by the warmth of the fire, listening to great music. Sunday, May 28th - 4:15pm - Sweater Weather - With members drawn together from all across the Salish Sea by a mutual love of traditional music and knitwear, Sweater Weather String Band blends old-time, honky-tonk, Celtic, and indie rock influences into a style that has been likened to “the frolicking of sheep before a thunderstorm.” Formed from a series of jams and impromptu gigs, the band quickly developed a wildly danceable sound that’s been heard at festivals, folk dances, and bars throughout the Northwest.
