Join Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW)and Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District (MCSWCD) for an fun and informative workshop for Indy residents. Learn about water conservation and sustainable stormwater management with green infrastructure at your home. Space is limited to 25 Marion County residents for each workshop. Registration is required and limited to 2 people per household and homes in the Near Northwest Neighborhoods (46208, 46222) will have priority registration.
Tuesday, May 9 - Rain Barrel Build Workshop - 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis (3001 N White River Pkwy Dr W, Indianapolis, IN 46222).
This event will follow the Central Canal Waterway Committee meeting, which runs from 4:30-5:45 PM in The Parks Alliance Boardroom. All are welcome to join the waterway committee meeting as well. Parking is available across the street (White River Parkway Drive West) from The Parks Alliance's headquarters.
Indy residents living along our waterways will be able to learn the benefits of and how to build your own rain barrel to help manage stormwater and clean up the water going into our waterways and aquifers. Working with experts from MCSWCD, up to 25 Marion County residents will receive step-by-step instructions and materials on building a 55-gallon rain barrel to take home after the event.
NOTE: Attendees must transport their rain barrel immediately following the event. It is 55-gallons and should fit in the backseat of most 4-door vehicles.
Workshops to improve our waterways are made possible through a generous grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana grant program.
