Statistic shows that Black women, have the lowest breastfeeding initiation rate of all racial groups at 69.4 percent, compared with 85.9 percent of white women, and 83.2 percent of women overall. They also have the shortest breastfeeding duration, with 44.7 percent of black women breastfeeding at 6 months compared with 62 percent of white women and 57.6 percent of women overall. BF 101 aims to educate and equip Black breastfeeding families in priority communities with sustainable breastfeeding plans and practices. Come join us for a live FREE in-person Breastfeeding 101 class held at Healthy Start's Center for Urban Breastfeeding (HSCUB) located at 400 N. Lexington Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Our BF 101 sessions are geared to provide breastfeeding support, LAtCHing techniques, and lactation resources to our Black breastfeeding families. HSCUB provides certified lactation counselors that are equipped to answer any questions that participants may have. Light refreshments will be provided to all who attend.
